Rescuing Two Lives at Once

A Comprehensive Training Plan for Fido and his veteran

A Comprehensive Training Plan for Fido and his veteran

Since 2015 Semper Fi Service Dog has been rescuing canines and training them as service dogs for our veterans in need.  PTSD claims 22 lives a day to veteran suicides, and service dogs have proven to be an effective coping mechanism for our veterans to help them recover from the effects of trauma and grief associated with war.

We start training with puppies at just 6 weeks of age.  Training takes 18 months to 2 years, depending on the veteran's needs and breed of the dog.   Many of our veterans come to us with dual diagnosis, and Fido is trained specifically for each veteran's individual  needs including PTSD, emotional disorders, and mobility issues. We often work with  Labradors, Retrievers and German Shepherds.

Located in Southern California, we offer free one-on-one and group training, free online support program, along with free service dog vests, and also education to our veterans of Fido's landlord and service dog/ESA rights.   The veteran will learn about the civil rights law that protects service dogs in all areas of public life under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

We operate solely on community donations, grants, and fundraisers.
