About Heal Our Troops America
Who We Are
Heal Our Troops America is a nonprofit, ID# 47-2910632, dedicated to helping veterans with Complementary Alternative Medicine for PTSD and other related ailments. We are officially the preferred “point of contact” for the entire San Diego VA System concerning ESAs and Service Dogs and their training. Since 2015, we have helped more than 1000 veterans with their legal rights when having an ESA or Service Dog, (landlord, travel, and workplace rights) and have trained easily more than 125 PTSD Service Dogs in conjunction with our SoCal veterans. We work as closely with the VA System as we can; 98% of the veterans in our program were referred directly to us via the VA Mental Health Department, 1% by The Wounded Warrior Project, and 1% by referral.
We Provide Service Dog Training throughout Southern California.
Our new training sessions begin in January 2024. Total service dog training time takes 9 months, and longer for special issues such as mobility and PTSD specialty areas. All training includes a bag of all natural training treats.
Locations:
San Diego: held at San Diego’s Mission Bay North Tecolete Shores Park. This location is directly to the left of San Diego’s Mission Bay Resort. The address is 1775 East Mission Bay Parkway in San Diego.
Long Beach: Held at the Long Beach VA at the NorthWest corner of the VA Long Beach lot on Harbor Way (top left of pink area).
Orange County: at Irvine Regional Park.
Huntington Beach: Our preferred summer training location, at a local park off PCH.
Agility Training: Our training includes entry level agility for dogs. It’s fun for everyone, and helps enrich our regular training program. The dogs love it, as it enhances the bond between canine and handler.
