How Long Is a landlord ESA or service dog letter good for? An ESA or service dog letter remains valid up to 12 months after it was first obtained. We, at Heal Our Troops America, have provided over 1000 ESA and service dog letters to our veterans here in Southern California. We charge $20.00 for a new or renewal letter. All letters are emailed within 24 hours after we receive your payment. Laminated ID cards are also available for $25.00, from The National Registry of Service Dogs of America.
